Sisters of Liberty, Part Two: The Talk and the Questions It Raised

This is my second presentation to Sisters of Liberty in Lehi, Utah, filmed by Latter-day Media. It is the follow-up to my July 1, 2026 talk, and most of it is unscripted questions from the room.

I move past Revelation 12 into the seals, the ten kings, and the law of consecration. I walk through Revelation 6, 7, 8, 13, 15, and 17, the Joseph Smith Translation, Isaiah 5, and Doctrine and Covenants 49, 85, and 104. I make the case that none of the seven seals have opened, that the ten kings are not nations, and that no amount of food storage saves anyone who has not learned to live the law of consecration.

I am blunt about myself in this talk. I am not living the law of consecration. I have been called a false prophet online. I have followed prophetic timelines that turned out to be wrong.

The talk generated a great deal of response. Four of the questions raised are worth answering carefully, and I have answered them below. I am grateful to everyone who took the time to write, including those who disagreed sharply. Several people sent me source documents. That is exactly how this should work, and I have learned from every one of them.

“You say Donald Trump is the one mighty and strong. The First Presidency addressed this in 1905.”

They did, and someone sent me that statement. I had not read it.

It is a better document than most people who cite it realize, and after several readings I accept every condition it sets. The man will be called through the proper authorities of the Church. He will be sustained. Nothing erratic, nothing self-appointed, nothing that overthrows the order God established.

I also accept what the First Presidency said about the misuse of this verse. The one mighty and strong does not come to correct the Church or replace the prophet. The Church has not fallen. It is not off course.

“We are already in the seventh seal. President Hinckley said so in the year 2000.”

I have heard this for years, from people I respect, and some of them told me they were present when it was said. So I went and read the source.

The statement is usually traced to the dedicatory prayer of the Palmyra New York Temple, offered by President Hinckley on April 6, 2000. That prayer is published in full on the Church’s website. It contains no reference to the seals. Not the seventh, not any of them.

What the prayer does say is that the First Vision was the introduction to the Lord’s work in the dispensation of the fulness of times. Dispensations and seals are not the same thing. Somewhere along the way, a prayer given on the anniversary of the Restoration became a statement about the seventh seal, and it has been repeated ever since.

I want to be careful here. I am telling you what is in that prayer. President Hinckley also spoke at those dedicatory services and in general conference for many years, and I have not read every word he ever uttered. If anyone can point me to a talk where he taught that the seventh seal has opened, send it to me and I will read it and respond. I mean that. It is how I came to read the 1905 statement in the first place.

The separate question is what the seals actually are. I hold that they are events rather than time periods, and that none of them has opened yet. That case rests on Doctrine and Covenants 77:

Q. What are we to understand by the seven seals with which it was sealed? A. We are to understand that the first seal contains the things of the first thousand years, and the second also of the second thousand years, and so on until the seventh. (Doctrine and Covenants 77:7)

The book contains seven thousand years. The seals are what hold the book shut. Those are two different things, and the difference changes everything about what we should be watching for.

“Calling Trump the anointed one is blasphemy.”

I understand why that lands the way it does, and I have lost friendships over it.

Christ is not a last name. It is the Greek Christos, translating the Hebrew Mashiach. Both mean anointed one. Prophets were anointed. Priests were anointed. Kings were anointed. David called Saul the Lord’s anointed while Saul was hunting him. Every endowed member of this Church has been anointed.

Jesus of Nazareth is THE Christ, THE Anointed One. He alone performed the Atonement. He alone conquered death. He alone offers exaltation. No one else has done this, no one else can, and nothing I have written changes that by one comma.

When I say Donald Trump is the anointed one described in Revelation 12:10, I am speaking of a commission, not an identity. Cyrus was called the Lord’s anointed and sent to rebuild the temple and send the Jews home. Cyrus saved no one. He performed a saving function under God’s power, in God’s name.

Trump is a servant. Christ is the Master.

The cross-references in question belong to 2 Nephi 3:24, not to Doctrine and Covenants 85.

And there shall rise up one mighty among them, who shall do much good, both in word and in deed, being an instrument in the hands of God, with exceeding faith, to work mighty wonders, and do that thing which is great in the sight of God, unto the bringing to pass much restoration unto the house of Israel, and unto the seed of thy brethren. (2 Nephi 3:24)

Brethren in the late 1800s read this as pointing to a prophet rising among the descendants of Lehi, and that reading has real footing. The verse before it is Lehi speaking to his son Joseph about his own seed, and “them” follows directly from it.

I read it differently. This chapter is Joseph of Egypt prophesying about a Moses, a seer, and a spokesman, and the restoration described here is far larger than anything completed in the 1800s. The Restoration began through Joseph Smith. It is not finished. The keys to all four pillars of the kingdom are held by the First Presidency, but we are living only one of them.

So I think it is possible that the one mighty among them and the one mighty and strong are the same man.

I cannot prove that, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. The text permits more than one reading, and honest people who study it carefully land in different places. I would rather tell you where I am uncertain than argue past the evidence.

The section on Doctrine and Covenants 85 is different. There I have the First Presidency’s own words setting the terms, and I accept every one of them.

What I Am Not Claiming

I am not claiming the Church has fallen. I am not claiming the prophet has erred. I am not claiming any of this is official doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, because it is not. This is my personal study of scripture. I said so in the talk and I say it again here.

I consulted my stake president before publishing the book, because I wanted to be certain I was not being deceived.

No one is obligated to accept a word of this. Read the scriptures yourself. Take it to the Lord. Belief precedes revelation, and it always has.
