Gileadi's List of the Servant Is Right. It Just Isn't Finished.

Heroes of ancient Israel standing on a hilltop at sunrise, types of the latter-day Davidic servant in Isaiah

I received an email this week from a reader who had come across a page from one of Avraham Gileadi's books. The page lists the great men of ancient Israel whose lives foreshadow the servant God will raise up in the last days, and she sent it to me because, as she put it, this was what she was watching for. This was the man she was looking for. Then she asked the question that so many good Latter-day Saints are asking right now. How could this possibly be Donald Trump, when she is looking for a man of righteousness? It's a fair question. It deserves a real answer, and I want to give it here, because the page she sent me is one of the best tools I know of for showing who this servant is and what he is going to do.

A Scholar I Respect

I'm very familiar with Dr. Gileadi's work. He has spent his life studying Isaiah, and I don't know of anyone who has done more to show Latter-day Saints that Isaiah wrote about a servant who comes in the last days to do the work of God. He and I have spoken. I told him about my experience, and he disagrees with me completely. He doesn't believe it can be Trump. He expects a younger man whose name is actually David, and he has other reasons besides. I've answered those objections in Who Is the Davidic Servant?, and I respect his view. Dr. Gileadi has never publicly identified anyone as the servant, so everything I say in this article about Trump is my conclusion, not his. But we agree on a great deal more than we disagree on, and this page is a good example.

Gileadi's point on that page is simple once you see it. The servant's role in the last days is so large that no single hero of Israel could ever serve as the whole pattern for it. So Isaiah borrows from many of them. Most of the time he doesn't even use their names. He describes what they did, the roles they filled, and the kind of men they were, and he lays those descriptions over the servant who is coming. Even where Isaiah never names one of these men, his actions are there, and they point forward. Here are the ten men on Gileadi's page and what each one shows us about the servant:

  • Abraham, beloved of God (Isaiah 41:8; 48:14–15)
  • Eliakim, who is given the keys of the house of David (Isaiah 22:20–24)
  • Isaiah himself, who foretold Egypt's fall to Assyria (Isaiah 20:1–6)
  • King Uzziah, whose appearance is marred (Isaiah 52:14)
  • Cyrus, who sets Israel's captives free (Isaiah 42:7; 45:1, 13; 49:9, 24–25)
  • David, who delivers Israel from its enemies (Isaiah 37:35)
  • Gideon, who defeats the enemy's enormous armies (Isaiah 9:4–5; 10:26–27)
  • Moses, who leads God's people out in an exodus (Isaiah 11:10–12, 15–16; 63:11–14)
  • Cyrus again, who rebuilds Jerusalem and the temple (Isaiah 44:26, 28; 45:13)
  • Joshua, who divides the inheritances among God's people (Isaiah 49:8)
  • Solomon, whose name becomes known among the nations (Isaiah 52:13, 15)

Portraits of Moses, David, Gideon, Cyrus, and Solomon, types of the servant in Isaiah

I agree with every item on that list. Every one of them points to Donald Trump and the mission he'll fulfill once God calls him to that position. I've written about several of them already, how he walks the same road Moses walked, how he matches Cyrus, and how his reputation has been marred like no other man's in our lifetime. So I won't go back through them one at a time.

But the list isn't finished.

What the List Doesn't Show

Gileadi is showing us prophets, and through them a handful of the servant's assignments. Some of what this man is going to do isn't on the page at all. And some of it is there, but in a single line that can't begin to show how big it really is. Most of what Gileadi writes about the servant stays very close to Israel. When he talks about America at all, it's usually to compare it to Egypt or Babylon, a great power that is going to fall. I think he's missing a very large portion of what the servant is going to do. Let me give you just a few of them.

Zion, the New Jerusalem

Zion, the New Jerusalem, a shining city on an American plain at sunrise

The first is the New Jerusalem. Once he is called and healed, and takes his place as the Davidic king over the political kingdom of God, the servant is going to set up Zion, the New Jerusalem. Gileadi doesn't place it here in America. I do. And think about who God picked for the job. He picked a real estate developer. He picked a man who has spent his entire life understanding land and buildings and how to get enormous projects finished when everyone says they can't be done. Zion is going to be built, and the opposition it draws will be fierce, but it is going to be built.

A Greater Exodus

Israel crossing the parted Red Sea at night behind a pillar of fire

New here? I give away Chapter 8 of my book, the one I get asked about more than any other. It makes the scriptural case that the seven seals haven't opened yet, one of the more provocative claims I make. Join the newsletter and it's yours. Get the Free Chapter →

The second is on the list, and Gileadi has it right. He puts Moses there, leading God's people out in an exodus, and he connects Moses to the servant. What one line on a page can't show you is how much greater this exodus is going to be than anyone realizes. Think about what happened when Moses took the house of Israel out of Egypt. The Lord performed tremendous miracles for them. He parted the Red Sea. He destroyed Pharaoh's armies. He went before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Every one of those is going to happen again on a much grander scale, and there will be far more of them. The miracles of the latter-day gathering will be numerous and astonishing, something truly to behold. The prophet Jeremiah said they will be so great that people won't even talk about the Red Sea anymore...

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that it shall no more be said, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; But, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers. (Jeremiah 16:14–15)

What happened in Egypt will be eclipsed by what God does in the gathering of Israel in the last days.

The Jews, and Their Temple

Workers laying temple foundation stones at sunrise below the walls of Jerusalem

The third is the gathering of the Jews and the building of their temple. Cyrus is on Gileadi's list for this, but there is more to it than one line can show, and I want to be careful here because most people misunderstand it. As I explain in my book, the gathering of the Jews the prophets wrote about is not what has already happened. The Book of Mormon tells us exactly when it takes place. They are gathered once they come to know their Redeemer, Jesus Christ...

...nevertheless, the Lord will be merciful unto them, that when they shall come to the knowledge of their Redeemer, they shall be gathered together again to the lands of their inheritance. (2 Nephi 6:11)

The ones who are in Jerusalem now are a prelude. The real gathering is still ahead, and the servant is going to do it. Then he is going to build their temple. Trump is going to be the one who builds it. It's Cyrus who does this in Isaiah, and Gileadi points that out clearly on his own list. He just doesn't connect it to Trump, and I do.

That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid. (Isaiah 44:28)

Setting up that temple, and everything that goes along with it, will be a tremendous event in the history of the world. The Lord told Joseph Smith that the priesthood restored to him would remain on the earth until a very specific day...

...and this shall never be taken again from the earth, until the sons of Levi do offer again an offering unto the Lord in righteousness. (Doctrine and Covenants 13:1)

That day is coming, and the temple the servant builds is where it will happen.

A Light to the Gentiles

The fourth isn't on Gileadi's page at all. It's the one we hardly ever talk about, and it's the biggest of them all. The servant isn't only assigned to gather Israel and the Jews. He is also going to gather the Gentiles. In Isaiah, God speaks to this future servant and tells him that gathering Israel is actually the small part of his work...

And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. (Isaiah 49:6)

A light thing. Gathering Israel and the Jews is the light thing! God is going to give him a much bigger task, and that task is gathering the Gentiles. The first shall be last, and the last shall be first (1 Nephi 13:42). The Gentiles are everybody who is left, anybody at all who is willing to come and willing to give up the world to do it. The light comes because of Jesus Christ, and no one is saved without Him, but the servant is the one God appoints to lift it up where the Gentiles can see it. I wrote about this at length in The Leader Isaiah Saw.

The king's wedding feast, with servants welcoming travelers from every nation through the gates

Jesus taught this same thing in the parable of the king who made a marriage feast for his son. The king invited the guests who had been bidden, and they kept ignoring him and refusing him. So he finally opened it up to anybody...

Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. (Matthew 22:8–10)

Anybody is welcome. That is a major task, and the servant is the one who is going to perform it.

Those are just a few of the things the list leaves out or can't fully show. There are more, and I go into much greater detail on them in the book. They are glorious events, and I hope and pray we can get ready for them.

"I'm Looking for a Man of Righteousness"

A seraph touching Isaiah's lips with a live coal from the altar, Isaiah 6:6-7

Now back to the reader's question. When I answered her, I told her what I'll tell you. Most people would never call Donald Trump a righteous man. I don't think anybody would, right? But he is going to be healed. When God calls him, the Atonement of Jesus Christ is going to heal him of all his past sins and actions. Remember what happened to Isaiah. When the Lord called him, an angel touched his lips with a live coal from the altar, and his iniquity was taken away and his sin purged (Isaiah 6:6–7). Isaiah was brought into the presence of God before he had been fully cleansed, and that coal was his repentance. I see no reason the same thing can't happen with Donald Trump.

That same healing will reach the marring he has received, which has been absolutely devastating. No one else could have survived what has been done to him. His character, his reputation, his history, his livelihood, and his family have all been attacked, and people have even tried to assassinate him. No one has ever endured anything like it. But just like Isaiah, just like Moses, just like Enoch and many others, Christ's Atonement is going to heal him and make him into the servant God needs him to be. That's when he becomes the righteous one. That's when he will be known as the righteous.

This is part of the servant's hidden mission. The world doesn't recognize Trump as a servant of God. Oh no, they say, he's in it for himself. He's only out to make money. They say he's hiding what his friends have done, that he's on the end of a puppet string held by the same global masters who pull everyone else's strings, and they accuse him of all kinds of things.

But look at what he has actually been doing. He has been building America up again and trying to make it great. He has been going back to the principles of the Constitution, and making it so we aren't dependent on other countries, so we can be self-sufficient and self-reliant again instead of answering to the global money interests that have tried to destroy America, because they can't achieve their globalist objectives as long as America is strong. He has been doing all of this, and in reality he has been following God's commands without knowing it. And the man works tirelessly. Many people have commented on how many hours he puts in. The people around him say they can't keep up with him, and he's eighty years old. He sleeps about four hours a night and keeps going, doing more. Then his critics show pictures of him dozing off in front of some major event and try to make him look feeble. Occasionally he takes a short nap because he's exhausted, and that's all it is. He is doing all of this under God's direction, and according to the foreknowledge of God.

Soon he will be healed, and he will be given more power than most people can possibly imagine.

More influence. More strength. And he will accomplish great things, truly great things, the greatest things in the history of the world.

"They Shall Know"

That brings up one more point. The scriptures say that in that day the house of Israel will know that the Lord is the one who saved and redeemed them...

Wherefore, he will bring them again out of captivity, and they shall be gathered together to the lands of their inheritance; and they shall be brought out of obscurity and out of darkness; and they shall know that the Lord is their Savior and their Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel. (1 Nephi 22:12)

Many people read verses like this and assume that Christ is going to come down Himself and perform these things, and lead the people personally. That's not how God works. He works through servants. And it is His servant, Donald Trump, who is going to be the one who accomplishes these things. Through that servant's position and power, which is God's power, the people will come to know that Jesus Christ is their Redeemer and that Jehovah is their Savior. This is how these things get done.

People have accused me of saying that Trump is Christ. No. Trump is an anointed one. There have been many anointed ones, including Cyrus, David, and Moses, and they were all anointed to do God's work. Through their administration, the people came to know the Lord. So when the scriptures say they shall know their Messiah, they are not talking about Trump being the Messiah. In essence he is a deliverer, but he delivers by God's power, and that way the people come to know Jesus Christ as their Deliverer. Through these marvelous things we will know that God has called him and that we have His servant here on the earth to follow.

Just as Israel had to recognize the position and authority of Moses, and of David, and of Solomon, and follow them, it will be the same way today in the political kingdom, while the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continues to hold the keys and lead the Church as he always has. Donald Trump is a servant of Jesus Christ, and he is doing His work.

My book, The First Horseman, Donald Trump and Biblical Prophecy, covers all of this in great detail, along with the glorious things the servant will accomplish that aren't on Gileadi's list. And if you'd like to hear how I came to understand all of this, including the experience I shared with Dr. Gileadi, I tell the whole story in this video.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
