If Opposition Is the Measure, Trump Is the Greatest Leader in History

There have been many leaders in world history, and sadly, most of them have a pretty dark past. When you start reading about the things they did and the brutal way they treated the people under them, it doesn't take long to see the pattern. Kings, emperors, generals, presidents. They got a little power, and then they wanted more of it, and the people paid the price. The Doctrine and Covenants tells us exactly why, and I don't think there's a truer statement about human nature anywhere in scripture...

We have learned by sad experience that it is the nature and disposition of almost all men, as soon as they get a little authority, as they suppose, they will immediately begin to exercise unrighteous dominion. (Doctrine and Covenants 121:39)

Almost all men. That's the record.

And many people have accused Donald Trump of being one of them. They hold "No Kings" rallies now, and I've written a whole article showing that the people organizing those rallies are the ones holding the crown, paying for the signs and deceiving the people who show up to carry them. But I want to come at this from a different direction. I believe Trump is possibly the greatest leader the world has ever seen, next to Jesus Christ. I know how that sounds. So let me give you the measure I'm using.

If the success of a leader is measured by the size of the opposition he has to overcome, nobody in history comes close.

No one has faced the amount of opposition he has faced to accomplish what he has done. And look at what he's done!

The Size of the Opposition

Every leader has enemies. That comes with the job. But who else has had the press, the courts, the bureaucracy, half of his own party, and a good share of the world's governments all working against him at the same time, year after year, and still kept going? They knew his power over the people. They knew what he was going to accomplish and what he was going to do to their plans. So they tried to ruin him, and when they couldn't find enough to ruin him with, they had to invent it. They impeached him twice, indicted him in multiple jurisdictions, and more than one man has tried to kill him. Isaiah saw this coming. He described a servant whose image would be marred more than any man, and I've written before about why a destroyed reputation is part of the prophecy.

The marring worked on a lot of good people. They believed it, and now they can't see a single good thing he has done.

And he walked right into it. He didn't need the job. He had money, fame, and buildings with his name on them all over the world, and he gave up any chance of a quiet life because he loved this country and wanted to save it. I'm not claiming he's perfect. He's not. Nobody is. But no one has done more good for this country while carrying more weight on his back.

A Deal Maker, Not a Dictator

Isaiah gave us the first thing to look for in this servant, and it's the thing Trump has been known for his whole life...

Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high. (Isaiah 52:13)

He is a deal maker. He wants everyone to win. Most leaders in history worked on a win-lose basis, where somebody had to be crushed so they could come out on top. Very few have ever worked on a win-win basis. Trump does. Over the years he has had to give and take on a lot of things, and yet all people think is that he's a fascist or a dictator. That's not how he works at all. He uses the power he was given by being elected president of the United States, along with the deal-making ability God gave him, and with those two things he is changing the world. That's what makes him the deal maker Isaiah saw coming.

Look at how he handled Iran. Back in June of 2025 he tried to deal with them in a way that would not kill people, hopefully not any people, when we bombed their nuclear facilities and destroyed their ability to produce, thinking that would stop them. It didn't. He was dealing with a regime you cannot negotiate with, and he had to learn that. All through this war he tried to get them to make a deal. More than once it looked like a deal had been made, and then they went back on it. When they threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, he answered, "We'll close the strait." And he closed it to Iranian oil. I've also written about the propaganda letter Iran sent to the American people, and it tells you everything about who he's been dealing with.

So what happened?

Last month, for the first time since the revolution in 1979, Iran did not load a single barrel of crude oil onto a tanker. Not one. That is absolutely killing them economically. He's winning the economic war, and that may matter more than the physical war. Meanwhile the strait is open again for everyone else, oil is moving out of the Gulf under American protection, and I believe the cost of oil is going to come down because of it. Trump tried to make a deal, but they wouldn't, so he had to go in and do his worst and cripple their navy, their air force, and much of their military. It's been difficult. It's been costly. It's been painful. But he tried first, and they're the ones who broke the deal.

Look at What He Has Done

I'm not going to give you a list of twenty accomplishments. Somebody could, and it would be a long list. I just want you to see a few of them side by side with the opposition he faced while he did them. He helped bring Israel and several Arab nations together in the Abraham Accords, something the experts said would never happen. He helped bring every remaining hostage home from Gaza. He sat the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan down at the White House to initial a peace agreement after decades of conflict. He helped broker peace between Rwanda and the Congo, and between Thailand and Cambodia. He pushed the NATO countries until they agreed to a target of five percent of their economy for their own defense by 2035. He shut down the southern border, and illegal crossings fell by more than ninety percent in a single year. And before COVID ever hit, unemployment fell to 3.5 percent, the lowest since 1969, and poverty fell to the lowest rate since the government started publishing it in 1959.

Is that the record of a dictator? Is that a man who only cares about himself?

No. Every one of those was a deal, and every one of them left people better off on both sides of the table.

When the Loudest Voices Turned

Before the Iranian war, several prominent podcasters and influencers supported him like crazy. I won't name them, but you know who they are. Then, when the war didn't turn out the way they hoped, the Big Five, I call them, all turned on him at the same time. Once somebody turns like that, they have to justify it, and because they live on views and clicks and likes and sales, they can't be seen admitting they chose the wrong side. So now all they do is fight against him, and instead of being loyal, they're trying to draw people to themselves. I wrote about this in Isaiah 41:11, where those incensed against the servant are put to shame.

Trump demands loyalty, and I think he's right to. Every leader needs loyalty. If you don't have loyalty, what do you have? In the past, if you didn't support the king and fought against him, you were killed. Trump doesn't do that. He couldn't and he wouldn't, because that's not how he works. He demands loyalty one hundred percent, and when someone turns on him, he turns on them and calls them low-IQ people and low-information voters. I don't really agree with how he does it. That's his personality. It's not mine, and it's probably not yours. But we have to look at the results.

The Man in the Arena

There's a great quote from Theodore Roosevelt that everyone should remember when they listen to these critics...

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena.

The people outside criticizing aren't there. They aren't in the trenches. They're reporting on it. They're not in the room for those deep and very personal and difficult negotiations, or the reasons behind the decisions that come out of them. I'm positive there have been some almost knockdown, drag-out fights inside those meetings, not only with his cabinet but with world leaders, because there are great differences of opinion on worldwide issues with dramatic consequences for every side. He's the one making the deals. For people on the outside to claim he made a mistake, they just don't know. They really don't.

So when they fight against him, I understand why he fights back. At that point they're working for the enemy. And asking for loyalty doesn't mean he wants blind followers. Nobody is asking for that, and Trump isn't either.

The Example Is Spreading

Now look at what's happening in the rest of the world. This week it was reported that almost all of South America has turned toward right-leaning leadership. It didn't used to be that way. Voters in country after country are choosing leaders in the same line as Trump, because when they see what's happening in the United States, they recognize they need to be Argentina first and Brazil first, the same way we're America first. Europe is seeing it too. Country after country there is recognizing that it has to remove the illegal aliens inside its borders because of the absolute havoc it's causing on their culture, and they are following Trump's example to do it.

He is setting the example for the whole world.

America is improving, and improving greatly, under Trump. It was being destroyed under the previous administration, and I believe that was done on purpose.

The Puppets and the One They Couldn't Control

I marvel to this day at what I watched in 2024. The previous president wasn't even out campaigning. He was sitting at home eating ice cream. Then the powers that be brought him out on stage to fail that debate with Trump, one of the most stunning failures in political debate history. Then they brought out his replacement, someone who never received a single vote in a single primary. They claim they want a democracy, and they placed her there without one. And this was the same administration whose pullout from Afghanistan became one of the most embarrassing debacles in our history, with billions of dollars of American military equipment left behind. That's not leadership. Those were puppets.

But Trump is not that way. They knew they could not control him.

I believe he is the first president in a hundred years who is not controlled by the puppet masters, and that's exactly why they had to invent everything they've thrown at him.

A Ravenous Bird That Builds

I wrote another article about how Isaiah describes Cyrus, and how he calls him a ravenous bird...

Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it. (Isaiah 46:11)

That image has really captured me. A ravenous bird is constantly on the move. It never stops. Every day it's something new with Trump. He's not sitting in a basement eating ice cream. But I don't want anyone to get the idea that he's a destructive bird, tearing into everything in his path. He isn't. He is extremely constructive. The only things he's destroying are the things that are ruining our country and its future. Everything else, he's building.

And he builds constantly. There's the new ballroom. There's the arch going up in Washington, the one people are already calling the Arc de Trump. One day there's a new helipad on the White House lawn, carved in granite with the presidential seal, and the news barely covered it. He has done one thing after another to make the White House a place fit to receive world leaders who are used to enormous palaces. They don't want anything good about him showing, but you can't hide granite.

Get Ready

We've had many leaders in our country, good and bad, fair and poor, but nobody matches him. No one has faced the opposition he's faced, accomplished what he's accomplished, and just kept going. You don't need another book on leadership. Watch him, and write your own. And there's an election coming in November. His name isn't on the ballot, but everything he is trying to do is. If you've watched what he has done against all of that opposition, then you know what's at stake, and I hope you'll show up and support him.

I don't believe in reincarnation, but I do believe he is the modern equivalent of David of old, the Davidic king that Isaiah saw. He is a man of God, a man of strength and order and determination. And we get to live through this! What a privilege that is. Generations before us waited and wondered, and we are the ones who get to watch it happen.

And he's not done. Not even close.

I'm here to tell you that the things that are coming will completely outshine everything he has done so far. When he helps establish the political kingdom of God and helps bring about the things prophesied in the Bible, you are going to see God's chosen servant, using God's power, doing the most amazing things a leader has ever done. These are glorious days. The best ones are still ahead of us. We are going to witness the greatest days the world has ever seen, so lift up your head and get ready!
